Internal Wall Insulation (Dry-Lining) Across the Midlands: Costs & €4,500 SEAI Grant
When a house has a natural stone facade, heritage brick front, or narrow side passage where 100mm external boarding cannot fit, Internal Wall Insulation (dry-lining) achieves the SEAI 0.27 W/m²K target from the inside at a lower capital cost.
Internal Dry-Lining Prices & SEAI Grants (2026)
To claim the SEAI Internal Wall Insulation grant, all external walls of the property must be insulated to ≤ 0.27 W/m²K (including window reveals, radiator pipe extensions, skirting refit, and full gypsum skim coat).

Can You Combine Cavity Pumping or External Wrap with Internal Dry-Lining?
Yes — many older Midlands homes have an original stone or solid-block cottage at the front and a 1980s cavity-block extension at the back. Under SEAI S.R. 54 design rules, each wall type is treated with its appropriate system while ensuring continuous thermal overlap at junctions.
Frequently Asked Questions: Internal Dry-Lining
Can I dry-line just one cold bedroom and claim the SEAI grant?
No — SEAI requires all external walls of the habitable dwelling to reach a U-value of 0.27 W/m²K or better to release the grant.
Do radiators and electrical sockets on external walls have to be moved?
Yes — radiators, curtain poles, window boards, skirting boards, and socket back-boxes on external walls are brought forward by the thickness of the insulated board (~85mm) and re-commissioned before skimming.
